What it covers
The focus is on electrical assembly:
- Wire harness: Designing, building and checking wire harnesses, also known as wiring looms.
- Cable assembly: Terminated cables and overmoulded assemblies, from specification to sign-off.
- Control panels: Building control panels and switchboards that are safe, serviceable and compliant.
- Quality and testing: Standards, inspection and the tests that catch faults before the customer does.
- Operations: Running the line: work standards, planning, costing and training people.
- Industries: What changes when the assembly goes into a car, an aircraft or a medical device.
Printed circuit board assembly and box build will follow. Mechanical assembly, such as bolted joints and hydraulic units, is outside the scope of this site.
